Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) is a public higher education institution offering study programs at the Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral levels. At present, 20,500 students, including 10,229 females and 5,660 international students, are enrolled in daily and combined forms of study across 297 study programs, with 155 taught entirely in English. CZU employs approximately 1,600 staff members, including more than 800 academic staff, such as professors, associate professors, senior researchers, and lecturers.
Research at CZU focuses on environmental, biological, agricultural, socio-economic, and technical topics, with faculties and departments actively participating in research projects funded by Czech national grant agencies such as the Czech Science Foundation, The National Agency for Agriculture Research, and the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, as well as international grant agencies such as Horizon Europe, Erasmus, LIFE, COST, and OECD. CZU manages around 400 research projects annually, with approximately one-third being international collaborations. The university is currently implementing up to 50 Horizon Europe projects, further strengthening its role in European research and innovation.
As a leading institution in life sciences, CZU is an active member of several prestigious international organizations, including the Euroleague for Life Sciences (ELLS), the Association for European Life Science Universities (ICA), the Danube Rector’s Conference (DRC), the Central and South Eastern Europe ICA Regional Network (CASEE), AGRINATURA – The European Alliance on Agricultural Knowledge for Development, and the European University Association (EUA).
