On Thursday, 29 May 2025, the Croatian team organised a field trip for master’s students as part of the SHUNTDIEM project. The programme combined practical learning in the field with insights into wildlife conservation and regional heritage.
During the excursion, students visited a Western capercaillie aviary in Gorski Kotar, where they had the opportunity to observe capercaillie display behaviour and vocalisations. This experience provided valuable insight into species ecology and conservation measures.
The field trip also included a visit to the Interpretation Centre Brod na Kupi in Brod na Kupi. There, participants explored the exhibition “The Relationship of the Frankopan and Zrinski Families Toward Nature”, which highlights historical interactions between society and the natural environment. The visit was complemented by an introduction to regional flora and fauna.
The activity formed part of SHUNTDIEM’s field-based learning approach, aimed at strengthening students’ practical skills and understanding of sustainable hunting tourism and wildlife management.
